Burns Check is a classic white and black-based check, inspired by Scotland’s rich textile heritage. This pattern pays tribute to Robert Burns, Scotland’s beloved national poet, who was born on 25th January 1759. His family settled in Ayrshire and built the Auld Clay Biggin, a humble thatched cottage in Alloway, where Burns spent the first seven years of his life. This historic home, now preserved as part of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, remains a place of pilgrimage for those celebrating his literary legacy.
